Micro: bits game creation coding workshop for high school students - years 7-12
ECU's School of Science is proud to offer this workshop for high school-aged students/teachers interested in learning more about computing and security. Join us for a day of coding in Python using micro: bits to create press-button games with LEDs, Bluetooth, compasses, and accelerometers. The day will start with learning the basics of Python to program Micro: bits.
Plan for the day -
9:00 - 10:00 - Workshop One – Python basic and Micro: bit functionality – loops, logic, debugging as well as images, instructions, and accelerometer – Rock, Paper Scissors
10:00 - Morning tea - please BYO
10:30 - 11:30 - Workshop Two – Micro: bits – Falling Dot Game
11:30 - 12:30 - Workshop Three – Micro: bits - Mastermind
12:30 - 1:00 - BYO Lunch - sit under the trees and enjoy the surroundings - we do ask that 'no feeding the ducks'!
1:00 - 2:00 - Workshop Four - Micro: bits - Hide and Seek
2:00 - 3:00 - Workshop Five – Own Project
Date: Oct 4th 9 am - 3 pm
Location: ECU Joondalup campus - School of Science Building 18. We will be working out of the computer labs located on Level 1. Registrations will also be on the first floor
Cost: $18.50
Morning tea and lunch - Bring your own morning tea and lunch
Parking and drop off: Please park at the visitor car park 14, where you can park and come in to drop off your child/children. The entrance is Deakin off Lakeside Drive. See Google Maps for directions.
On the day: We will be taking photos during the day so please ensure you tick or cross the photo permission box on the registration form. Parents and/or guardians are invited to come and view what we have created from 2:45pm onwards.
