FILM: FAME - followed by a Q&A with director Angelo Milano
From 2008-2012, FAME ('hunger' in Italian) was one of the most unique public art festivals in the world. Started by artist Angelo Milano, founder of the gallery and printing studio Studio Cromie, the festival breathed new life into his home town of Grottaglie, Southern Italy. It became synonymous with this special era for street art; a time of experimentation, determination, rebellion and provocation.
The film was released in 2017, directed by Giacomo Abbuzzese and Angelo himself. It documents the originality and influence of this festival, a celebration of 'inconvenient' art, and the myth created through a course of improvisation, chaos and devotion.
The screening will be followed by a Q&A with Angelo, who has come all the way from Italy to be at this event.
