About
Earth Flix screens FREE films once per quarter creating a film festival of sorts that stretches throughout the year. Sessions will always be on a Wednesday at 6pm at the Empire cinema, Bowral. Each screening will have a different environmental theme, screened with the intention to educate, build resilience and inspire our community, including Q and A's and a linkage back to our local area.4 films to be screened in 2026, starting with I Am Greta (Rated M), followed by River (Rated M), then Rehydrate Australia, and Secret Lives of Our Urban Birds. 21 Oct - Secret Lives of Our Urban Birds - reveals the hidden lives of birds thriving in our cities. Through intimate storytelling and striking visuals, the film explores how these resilient species adapt to urban environments, highlighting their intelligence, behaviours, and the vital role they play in connecting people to nature in everyday spaces.
The feature film will be followed by two great short docs, Cry of the Glossy and the Wingecarribee Shire Bushcare video.
Meet our Speakers:
Dr Nicholas Carlile and Dr Alex Johnston bring together decades of experience in wildlife conservation and animal care. Dr Carlile is a leading seabird ecologist whose 35-year career has focused on threatened species recovery, island restoration and the protection of Australia's unique birdlife. Dr Johnston is a highly experienced veterinarian with more than 30 years in practice, offering valuable insights into animal health, welfare and the connections between domestic animals, wildlife and the natural environment. Together, they provide a fascinating perspective on the challenges and opportunities involved in caring for and conserving the animals that share our world
