MATTUTINO: Flavio Villani
Location
Tempo Rubato
About
Mattutino is our monthly Sunday morning concert series. Stay for a complementary sherry and some nibbles after the concert.
Flavio Villani is an Italian-New Zealand pianist with Masters with first-class honours from the University of Auckland and a Doctor of Music Arts from Waikato University.
The Prelude was once an improvised musical work. It offered a tempting taste of the musical possibilities and moods to come during the concert programme that followed. In this event, Rachmaninoff’s Preludes are alternated with Villani’s own improvisations, mirroring some of the gestures and ideas of the brilliant Russian composer.

Sergei RACHMANINOFF Preludes Op.23 (selection) vs. mirrors of self
