A recital of violin solos and duos with shakuhachi featuring works by JS Bach, Franz Ignaz Biber, Scarlatti, Norman and improvisations based on songs by the Spanish poet, playwright, and theatre director Federico Garcia Lorca.

Performer Bio:

Jorge Jiménez is a maverick of the violin world and one of the most sought-after violinists of our day, known for his painstaking and exciting approach, performing music in the style and instruments for which it was composed, from the Middle Ages to the 21st century. Hailing from Spain but based in London, Jorge specialises in historically informed performance. Jorge is the founder and director of the Spanish ensemble Tercia Realidad and concertmaster of ensembles such as: La Arpeggiata (FR), The Hanover Band (United Kingdom), Forma Antiqva (ES), La Risonanza (IT), Capella Cracoviensis (Poland), I Fagiolini (United Kingdom) and Laudonia Ensemble (Austria). He is also a regular guest concertmaster and conductor of orchestras throughout Europe, and a regular guest as soloist  and musical director at Shakespeare’s Globe Theater. Jorge has recorded for labels such as Atlantic Records, Naxos, Hyperion, DLR-Capriccio, Lindoro, La Ma de Guido, Prometeo and Pan Classics (Germany). Anne Norman is a passionate shakuhachi performer, improviser and composer working as soloist and in collaboration with a diverse range of musicians including the Faraway trio, Deborah Cheetham, Polyphonic Voices and the Plexus Collective. Anne has composed works for shakuhachi, choirs and various ensembles including a suite of chamber works celebrating the Victorian Surf Coast.
