MTS Challenge 2024: Passing the Baton
About
Our world needs the gospel. The harvest is still plentiful, but the workers are still few. MTS Challenge is running to help you consistently raise and multiply gospel workers through ministry apprenticeships.
Our keynote speaker, Peter Adam, will open up God's word to help us see God’s vision for his world. We’ll pray together for God to raise workers. Practical seminars and workshops with experienced trainers will help us start or grow a ministry that trains women and men for gospel ministry.
This conference is for those in gospel work who want to raise up more gospel workers. If you’re in gospel ministry, including current and past apprentices, this conference is for you.

WORKSHOPS
1. Training Regularly
Training Regularly is a workshop for people who are regularly training apprentices in their ministry.
In this workshop Dan Kong, AFES staff from Deakin Christian Union, will explore key factors identified in ministries that train multiple apprentices year after year. Dan will help you move from principles to practice, and give examples from his ministry context to discuss, critique and learn from. This interactive workshop will benefit churches and university ministries and anyone who is already regularly training apprentices. Come along to work out how you can consistently train more apprentices and help those apprentices become trainers who do so as well.
2. Training Occasionally
Training Occasionally is a workshop for people who are training apprentices every few years.
In this workshop Sam Oldland, Assistant Minister at Unichurch (St Jude’s Church), will help you understand and implement a ministry pipeline to consistently raise up apprentices. Sam will address common blockages to training more regularly & how to clear them. This workshop will benefit anyone who is training apprentices occasionally, to help you be consistently raising up and training apprentices year after year.
3. Getting Started
Getting Started is a workshop for people who want to start training apprentices.
In this workshop Adam Ch’ng, Senior Pastor at Cross & Crown: Melbourne, will help you understand the steps he has taken to go from zero apprentices to training his first apprentice, and to continue raising up apprentices after that. Adam will share about the challenges and opportunities he’s faced in starting training at Cross & Crown. This workshop will benefit anyone who has not trained before, to help you start training apprentices in your ministry.
4. Current Apprentices & Students
Current Apprentices and Students is a workshop for people who are currently training as an apprentice or are preparing for ministry while studying at Bible College.
In this workshop James Hoey (MTS Victoria Partnership Developer) and Aglin Chiang (current student at Reformed Theological College) will help you prepare to go from trainee or student to trainer. What do you need to learn and start doing now, so that you will be ready to start training others in the future? How will you keep the 2 Timothy 2:2 DNA when you join or lead a ministry team, or serve God in other ways? This workshop will help you grasp the training DNA needed to raise up gospel workers through ministry apprenticeships.
