Yosl Bergner
Yosl Bergner was an important Australian and Israeli artist born in Vienna in 1920. After also living in Warsaw, Poland, he was relocated to Australia in 1937, where he studied art and befriended influential local artists before eventually settling in Israel in 1950.
Melech Ravitch
Melech Ravitch, Yosl Bergner’s father, was a Polish Yiddish poet renowned for his literary and poetic contributions both pre and post the Holocaust. He later became involved in investigating the Kimberley Plan for a potential Jewish homeland in Australia.
Shaike I Am Art Snir
Shaike was born in Israel in 1952, serving as an intelligence photographer during his military service. After meeting Yosl Bergner in the 1970’s he opened an art gallery and a screen-print studio in Tel Aviv, before moving to Australia in 1987 and doing the same again.
He is representing Yosl Bergner in Australia.
