Winter School Holidays 2024
Looking for something to do these school holidays? Try one of our nerdy school holidays sessions: evening or afternoon, there's something for the space enthusiast in your life.
Our evening sessions involve a tour of the historic observatory, a presentation about the nature of movement of the sky and space and finished with wonderful star gazing with our modern telescopes. If the weather is cloudy, a virtual night sky tour will run instead of telescope viewing. We recommend dressing for the snow with layers.
Our afternoon session are perfect for kids keen to learn about how the universe works. You’ll get to learn about the movement of the objects in the day and night sky, the orbits of various solar system bodies and the movement of the solar system through space. The session will end with a visitor favourite activity: launching water rockets.
