South Esk Sprint Meet Bus Trip – 22 JUNE 2024
The 2024 South Esk Sprint Meet is one of the highlighted swim meets noted on the Winter Swimming Season (short course) Key Dates for all HC squads. The coaching team is keen for strong participation by our club at this Meet and we'll be working hard to include as many of our swimmers as possible in the relay teams. This is a fun swim meet well suited to both Junior and Senior Swimmers.
For more information about this meet please refer to the details on the Swimming TAS website: https://tas.swimming.org.au/events/2024-south-esk-sprint-meet
On Saturday 22 June 2024, we'll be travelling to the South Esk Sprint Meet by bus, with a 57-seat coach arranged for our swimmers. As well as providing transport to the event, this will give our swimmers experience in travelling ‘as a Team’ to an intra-state swimming event, something that's always enjoyed by the swimmers.
We'd like to encourage as many of our swimmers as possible to join us on the bus.
Bus trip details:
Departure
The bus will leave at 8.30 AM sharp from Collegiate Pool (the bus will be parked around the corner on Molle Street) and will return there to offload passengers in the evening (updated arrival times will be posted on the Members Facebook page).
Warm-up for the Meet is scheduled for 12:30 PM, events start at 1:00 PM and finish at approximately 5:30 PM. The bus will depart Launceston as soon as possible after the end of the Meet making a quick stop for dinner at Morty’s Food Hall, 25 Wellington Street, Launceston.
We hope to be back in Hobart at around 9-9:30 PM, but this will depend on the South Esk Sprint Meet schedule. We’ll be providing updates via the Member's Facebook page with ETAs on the bus arrival time back into Hobart.
Team chaperones and supervision
Team chaperones will be travelling on the bus with the team. All Team chaperones will hold Working with Vulnerable People accreditation. Team chaperone names and contact details will be provided to parents/Carers once finalised. All team members competing at South Esk, whether travelling by bus, or by other means, will be under the supervision of our chaperones and/or Team Managers at the South Esk Meet.
The Coaching Team won't be travelling by bus. Coaching Team and Team Manager duties will be carried out as normal for a swimming event.
Junior team members will be assigned a senior team member to act as their ‘buddy’ for the day.
Stopovers
There will be a brief toilet and stretch stop at Campbell Town on the way to Launceston. On the return journey, we'll stop at Morty’s Food Hall for dinner (at the swimmer’s own cost). Please ensure you provide your swimmer with cash or an appropriate card so they can purchase their dinner.
Please note that eating and drinking (other than water) won't be allowed on the bus.
Trip Costs
The cost for the return bus trip $30 per swimmer. This must be paid via try booking: before Wednesday 19 June 2024 - 5PM.
The above cost does not cover swimmer event registration (payable via SwimCentral).
