Colac - Alvie railway tour

            About
A coach tour to follow the former railway line from Colac to Alvie. The line was opened in June 1923 and was busy for a few decades with largely agricultural and dairy produce, then lost most of its traffic after WW2. It was closed in December 1954 and the remaining buildings and track removed in 1957.We will follow the railway and visit all station and siding locations, although little remains of them to view. Much of the earthworks are visible and we may walk a short section through a farm. We will visit Red Rock and weather permitting, enjoy distant views of the Otways, towards Geelong, Ballarat, Ararat and the Grampians. Bring appropriate clothing, as it may be very windy and cold at Red Rock. We will then visit the Colac and District Historical Society rooms and displays. A light lunch, afternoon tea and a brief line history booklet is included.
