The Parents of Loreto (POL) are pleased to present the Loreto School Dance (Years 8 & 9). The dance is only open to Loreto students in years 8 and 9 students of invited schools in years 8 and 9. Tickets are essential. Please see details below:  
 

Date:      Friday 9 August 2024

Time:      6.30pm - 9.00pm

Venue:    Mary Ward Centre

Cost:       $20.00 per person (includes entry, 1 x bottle of water, 1 x chips or chocolate snack
                Food and drink also available to purchase on the night

                 Pre-purchased tickets are essential - no tickets will be available at the door
                Please note that ticket sales are non-transferable or refundable
                 Please bring student ID card

RSVP:     Monday 5 August 2024 - 5.00pm or until sold out

Please note: Debit cards are preferred for the canteen (students may not make purchases with their mobile phone or a Loreto flexi-schools care), but cash will be accepted (coins and small denomination notes only)

 

Terms and Conditions

All students attending the Loreto Dance agree to abide by these guidelines as a condition of entry. 

  1. Only students in Years 8 & 9 from the following schools will be permitted to enter:
  • Loreto College 
  • Villanova College
  • Iona College
  • St Laurence’s College
  • and Marist College Ashgrove.
  1. Students must be able to produce valid, current school ID and a pre-purchased entry ticket - there will be NO exceptions. Identification will be matched against the pre-purchased list.
  2. All students must have checked in to the Mary Ward Centre by 7pm, when the entry doors will close. No guests will be permitted to enter after this time. 
  3. Students and parents consent to a metal detection search and/or bag search upon entry. Dangerous or banned items will be confiscated and the student referred to a parent for immediate collection.
  4. Students will be required to cloak ALL bags and mobile phones. Cloaked items will be exchanged for a numbered wrist band which must be produced in order to collect their items at the end of the dance, or during the event. Access to cloaked items will be available to obtain eftpos cards for canteen purchases, or to make contact with a parent.
  5. Students may not make purchases from the canteen with their mobile phone, or a Loreto flexi-schools card. Cash will be accepted (coins and small denomination notes only), but debit cards are preferred.
  6. Chewing gum is not permitted.
  7. All students should adhere to the following dress code, with inappropriately dressed students refused entry or given the opportunity to rectify:
    • Students should wear smart casual clothing appropriate for a school event and ensure that they comply with their own school’s expectations on dress at school events.
    • Clothing with shoulder straps of 3cm width or more is requested. Shirts are to avoid low necklines, exposed midriffs, cut-outs or offensive prints.
    • Skirts, shorts or dresses for all students should be of at least mid-thigh length.
    • No pyjamas, reflective tape or glow sticks are permitted, as volunteer supervisors will be wearing in high vis vests for identification. 
    • Footwear must be suitable for dancing (covered shoes with flat soles and with a back required)– high heels, sandals, ugg boots, thongs, slides or scuffs are not permitted. 
    • Students will not modify their clothing once they have entered the event.
  8. All students must be respectful to all other guests and supervisors at the dance venue and demonstrate mature and responsible behaviour.
  9. Students should report to a supervisor (dressed in yellow or orange reflector vest) any behaviour by another student considered to be dangerous, antisocial, or inappropriate.
  10. Inappropriate behaviour will be referred to College staff and parent/carer contacted. The staff of the student’s school may also be contacted in some circumstances.
  11. Students will not form a 'mosh pit', ‘dance battle’ or crowd surf in front of the stage area, or the music will be stopped until it disperses.
  12. Smoking of cigarettes, vaping, e-cigarettes, or use of drugs, as well as the consumption of alcohol before or during the dance, is forbidden.
  13. Activities of an immoral or illegal nature are absolutely forbidden, and fighting, antisocial behaviour or attempting to cause a disturbance will not be tolerated. Offenders will be asked to leave with their parents called. Similarly, any damage or destruction of school property will be reported to student’s family, school or to the Police as required.
  14. Rubbish needs to be placed in the appropriate bins. Personal water bottles may not be brought from home, but bottled water will be available for purchase. Any food or drinks are only to be consumed outside in the courtyard area.
  15. Students are not permitted in any 'off limits area', e.g., School buildings, classrooms, the pool, oval, or areas fenced off from the immediate Mary Ward Centre vicinity. Parent volunteers, school staff and security will be situated around the boundaries to monitor this.
  16. Students will not be released from the Mary Ward Centre until 9.00 pm at the end of the event once they have entered. After the dance, students are to move quietly to the designated pick-up area, respecting the neighbouring properties. Students will be released in small groups for safety. 
  17. Parents are asked to be patient at the completion of the dance, and observe parking regulations in local streets. Students should be collected by 9:15 PM from Cavendish Road or Lade Street, where security officers and school staff will monitor with torches and high-vis vests.
  18. Please be aware that strobe lighting and smoke machines will be used through the production, so by attending the dance you recognise this will not affect you adversely. First aid is available to the left of the stage area. 
  19. Ticket sales will close on Monday 5 August 2024 unless sold out, or at the discretion of Loreto Parents of Loreto (POL). In the event that insufficient tickets are sold by Friday 2 August, the POL may cancel this event and reschedule to a later date in the year. Tickets will be refunded if this occurs. 
  20. Refunds or exchanges are not possible under any other circumstances.
