2024 Middle Years Production 'Breaking the Rules: a series of One Act Plays'

Dear Adults by Virag Dombay and Harry Fritsch
Rule of Thumb by Matthew Ryan
Lost Property Rules by Matthew Ryan

Dear Adults... by Virag Dombay and Harry Fritsch is a verbatim theatre piece that gives voice to children and teenagers, allowing them to express their concerns, thoughts, and questions to the adults in their lives.  The play is based on real-life stories and perspectives from young people aged 6 to 18, highlighting the often overlooked opinions of the younger generation.

Rule of Thumb by Matthew Ryan centres on Veronica Thumb, a girl with ASD, who we follow through the formative stages of her childhood. A story about accepting others and accepting yourself, this work shows the world through the eyes of a girl who lives by a different set of rules. CW// includes scenes where Veronica is teased and bullied.

The Lost Property Rules by Matthew Ryan: Alice and Isobel, on their way to their grandmother's house, are spooked one night at a train station by a guard dog. They hide in the room next to the train station office and find solace in telling stories inspired by the items in a lost property box. This play explores themes of acceptance and adapting to change through imaginative storytelling.
