About

The School of the Arts, English & Media (TAEM) presents

Concept by: Tim Maddock and Lucy Heffernan

We will meet, and there we may rehearse most obscenely and courageously.

A performance by third year students of the Bachelor of Performance and Theatre, Yeah Nah is an adaptation of A Midsummer Night's Dream written by Lucy Heffernan (after Shakespeare), featuring music written and produced by Heffernan, UOW alumnus Byron Davis, and current third year student Blake Hahn. First performed during the dark age (circa 2021, COVID-era), Yeah Nah is a celebration of the sexual and crude nature of Shakespeare's original, embracing the depravity of the pagan Midsummers festival in a way that feels more modern and recognisable.

The challenge of a Shakespeare is, above and beyond, to find a way to make it feel new, fresh, as if it were written only yesterday. Well, this was written only yesterday, and with a huge group of courageous, fresh performers, promises an obscene acid trip into the woods, along with all of their delights and terrors.
