2025 Kalang River Classic is a 15k paddling race around Newry Island on the Kalang River in Urunga. This paddling race is open to Dragon Boats, Outrigger Canoes (OC6 and OC1, OC2), Surf skis, Kayaks, Sculls, Kayaks, Stand Up Paddle Boards and junior SUP and Kayak. Financial prizes for the top racers. There will also be a 3k fun race for SUP and a 1k fun race for junior kayak and junior SUP. Prizes for best most crazy dressers in the fun race. This race is hosted by the Kalang River Dragon Boat Club with the help of the local community and sponsors. Main photo credit James Lander
