Learning outcomes per topic:
Physical Office Environment: Completion of this webinar will improve understanding of how to adapt the physical office environment to improve mental wellbeing within practice, with a particular focus on natural light, greenery, outdoor spaces and environments for collaboration; and how to incorporate recreational activities into day to day practice to improve the wellbeing of all in the business. Participants will also gain an understanding of the Architects Mental Wellbeing Forum Toolkit and how to use this document to start conversations and make changes to improve wellbeing; as well as gain a stronger understanding of the major research project ‘Architectural Work Cultures: professional identity, education and wellbeing’ and its progress to date.
Office Culture and Overtime: Comply with the regulatory requirements and obligations pertaining to practice as an architect, including legislation, professional codes of conduct, obligations for continuing professional development and professional indemnity insurance. Implement practice resources and apply ethical employment practice methods and quality assurance systems to facilitate efficient, consistent and timely delivery of architectural services.
Contracts, Clients and Managing Deadlines: Comply with the regulatory requirements and obligations pertaining to practice as an architect, including legislation, professional codes of conduct, obligations for continuing professional development and professional indemnity insurance. Implement practice resources and apply ethical employment practice methods and quality assurance systems to facilitate efficient, consistent and timely delivery of architectural services.
Support Systems and Staff Education: Completion will allow participants to gain insights into strategies for implementing support systems and training across small, medium and large practices based on practical advice and experience. Topics include mental health first aid courses, employee assistance programs, one-on-one catch-ups, establishing practice values and open-door policies.
Caring for Students, Graduates and Interns: After completion of the webinar, participants will gain a better understanding of wellbeing issues for students and a range of approaches taken by practices to care for their students, interns and graduates.
Technology: After completion participants will better understand the right to disconnect legislation, how to use technology effectively in practice, how to structure meetings for best effect, and how to manage remote working.
Championing Healthy Workplaces: The session explains and evaluates a range of strategies and wellbeing initiatives trialled and implemented in different practices, focussing on opportunities, strengths and resources that help build a safe, healthy, positive, productive and supportive workplace culture.
