EAL/D Pedagogy Face-to-Face Workshop
About
At this workshop, the following four sessions will be presented:1) Intercultural Team Teaching, presented by Fran Murray: This session will examine key concepts and strategies involved in successful intercultural team teaching.
2) Unpacking the language of texts, presented by Nicki Hansen: In this workshop, Nicki will use a simple flow chart to guide participants to identify different sentence types and demonstrate the importance of teaching grammar to make texts meaningful to EAL/D learners.
3) The Gradual Release of Responsibility, presented by Liz Easton
In this session each stage of this teaching framework will be unpacked with a particular focus on the "supported practise" stage.
4) EAL/D Assessment Tasks by Liz Easton: Liz will provide examples of EAL/D assessment tasks across the four modes of listening, speaking, reading and writing and show how teachers can backward map to support students to complete these tasks.
