Location
Tempo Rubato 34 Breese St, Brunswick, VIC, 3056

About

Cyrus Meurant, piano/composer
Matthew Kneale, bassoon
Emica Taylor, flute

An intimate program of music inspired by poetry of Rabindranath Tagore and Countee Cullen.

Written during the early stages of the COVID-19 pandemic, 'All through an empty place I go' takes cues from Cullen’s ‘The Loss of Love’, whilst the seven part song cycle ‘Stray Birds’ (after Tagore) contrasts with themes of healing and hope.

Meurant also performs excerpts from his album 'Monday to Friday', originally composed for people living with dementia.

All through an empty place I go for flute and bassoon [after Cullen]
Mneme and Monday III for solo piano
Stray Birds for bassoon and piano [after Tagore] {premiere of new arrangement}
Friday III for flute, bassoon and piano
