A double program comprising STEAM Program "TAKE FLIGHT" Ages 12+

In Take Flight, students will have an opportunity to:

• Informally engage with University student facilitators and the Science Gallery’s transdisciplinary approach to learn about STEM pathways.

• Use Python-based text commands and utilise geometry and measurement to complete flying patterns through a series of activities of increasing complexity.

• Explore the applications of drones across agriculture, health, engineering, entertainment and more.

• Work as a team to determine the best route to complete an obstacle course, and code a drone to do so.

This is a continuation of the program that was run in 2024 and will be suitable for students who attended TAKE FLIGHT last year as there are now updated activities from a program refresh. There will be plenty of new content for student who have previously participated in the program (and the feedback after the program was that they kids were keen for more). This is also suitable for students who have not participated in a previous TAKE FLIGHT or Science Gallery program.

Key Themes: Drone industry, robotics, mathematics, coding.

Please note:
As per the Melbourne Science Gallery requirements, this event is strictly for students of secondary school age. To avoid disappointment, please do not book in younger children or they will not be allowed to participate. 

Parents are required to stay in the workshop room.
