SpineCare 2025
About
SpineCare is a multidisciplinary training program that aims to enhance evidence-based knowledge and equip physiotherapists with pragmatic clinical skills for treating people with spinal pain.
The course is designed by Dr Robert Laird (Specialist Musculoskeletal Physiotherapist, PhD) and Dr John Moi (Consultant Rheumatologist and Head of Service for The Back Assessment Clinic (BAC) at The Royal Melbourne Hospital). The course offers:
i. Ten, weekly, multidisciplinary webinars delivered by expert presenters from the disciplines of neurosurgery, orthopaedics, rheumatology, pain management and specialist physiotherapy.
ii. Four virtual training sessions (1.5 hours each).
iii. Three face-to-face practical sessions (7 hours each).
Practical sessions are led by Dr Robert Laird (Specialist Musculoskeletal Physiotherapist, PhD), Dr David Kelly (Senior Lecturer, University of Melbourne) and Yashwant Rathi (Advanced Practice Physiotherapist- RMH, Registrar-ACP). These sessions aim to enhance exercise and manual therapy skills, as well as build advanced clinical reasoning and problem-solving skills.
This course is interactive and facilitates integration into clinical practice using quizzes, manual therapy training, motor control, individualized exercise prescription and case studies.
The course runs over three months (including a two-week mid-term break) with webinars scheduled for Monday evenings between 7pm to 8pm (except for the first and fifth webinars, on May 19 and June 23 respectively, which starts at 6pm and runs for 2 hours). The first virtual training session starts on Thursday, May 22 and runs from 4pm to 5.30pm and the first face-to-face practical session starts on Saturday, May 31 from 8.30am-4pm.
A regional discount exists for participants who practice in a regional or rural setting. Please contact the organiser to access a discount code.
Participants have the option to register for a ‘webinar-only’ package, designed to suit attendees who do not wish to participate in the virtual and/or face-to-face practical sessions.
