The oldest hotel in the region has a fascinating history, starting life as a Doctor’s cottage in 1866 before becoming a stage coach inn and country hotel. Closed in 2008 and almost destroyed by the wrecking balls, it was saved by a forward-thinking shire who bought it and set about the restoration. Hear about the fascinating history, the trials and tribulations of a shire buying a country pub, the stresses of building a modern venue in a historic building and the lengthy and uncertain road to redeveloping this centre of the community.
