Bloom – a free 1 hour concert of new musicShimasheng is a collaboration between two musicians of vastly different background. Together they explore possibilities for the combination of traditional Chinese and contemporary elements and technology. Wang Zheng-Ting has performed around the globe on the Sheng (mouth organ) and is a highly respected composer, performer and ethnomusicologist, as well as being the Director of the Australian Chinese Music Ensemble. Duncan Foster, a composer and performer in multiple genres that include jazz, blues, East African (particularly Ethiopian), Western “art” music and Vietnamese contemporary opera, is known for innovative intercultural colllaboration.
