Australian/Finnish, Finland-based musician Simon Svoboda is back to perform in Melbourne, joined on stage by dear friend and cello superstar David Moran. In the past two years, Svoboda has found inspiration to compose minimalistic music for his cello and voice. His recently released EP, ‘Kaamos’, is inspired by different elements of Finnish winter. Hear arrangements of Kaamos for two cellos & voices with Moran, alongside music by Bach, Jacques Emery and Sibelius.

“Woven Sun” is a 30-minute work for string quartet and bassist Helen Svoboda. It explores how beauty and identity are made from many connected parts, like strands woven together. The music asks if beauty comes from effort or something deeper, and suggests that to understand ourselves, we must look at all our parts - including our struggles.
