------------------------------------
This is a popular topic in the justice and workers compensation spaces in Victoria. This workshop will assist practitioners to enhance their skills to manage dysregulated and demanding clients, as well as protecting themselves.
The workshop will explore:
- The science of stress and trauma, relevant to the legal profession.
- Ways to identify dysregulation (including subtle presentations).
- Evidence-based skills in co-regulation and de-escalation (e.g., in response to client anger, traumatic activation, anxiety, persistent demand, and / or perpetual dissatisfaction),
- Helpful communication frameworks and language scripts,
- Techniques in setting and maintaining healthy boundaries,
It will also provide an opportunity for participants to consult on particular cases / experiences (including the option of doing so confidentially in a pre-session survey questionnaire).

Nick started his career working in Forensic Psychology (in custody and the community), and have since worked in Child Protection, Family Violence and Emergency Services sectors. He has continued to provide counselling, consultancy, and workshops to these sectors, in addition to the legal sector (including private firms and Australian Law Societies), international Employment Assistance Programs (EAP), and the Insurance and Workers Compensation sectors.
