Neighbourhood Watch

80-year-old Hungarian refugee Ana lives a lonely existence with her aggressive dog on Mary Street in a typical Australian neighbourhood. She also lives in the past, in her memories of her childhood and growing up in war-torn Hungary. Her neighbours on Mary Street are mostly wary of this blunt, pushy, suspicious and rather nosy woman who mostly refuses friendship. When she meets young neighbour Catherine, an out-of-work actor who is also plagued by sad memories, their increasing dependence on each other takes them both into the war-torn Hungarian past and back again. Note-in this updated edition of the play the playwright has changed some character names from the original productions-Milova is now Jovanka, Doctor Valker is now Doctor Vhite and Christina is now Katrina.
