Swaptember - Seed Swap
About
Join us for Plant the Seed – Save the Seed – Plant the Seed at Moss Vale Community Garden as part of Swap-tember!This hands-on workshop, led by Garden Coordinator Jill Cockram and the garden team, will teach you how to clean, store, and swap open-pollinating seeds adapted to our local climate. Learn about seed anatomy, the benefits of open-pollinated vs hybrid varieties, how to avoid cross-pollination, use seed-raising calendars, test seed viability, and safely store seeds for future seasons. You’ll practice cleaning and winnowing seeds, then package and swap them with others. Bring your own seeds to share or use some provided.
Morning tea included. Connect with local gardeners, swap knowledge and seeds, and help build a more sustainable, resilient gardening community. Whether you're new to seed saving or looking to refine your skills, this workshop will give you practical tools and inspiration to grow, save, and share for seasons to come.
