About
The Southport Camp is The Hutchins School’s outdoor education facility. It has one smaller and three larger sleeping cabins, a main dining, game and education area and amenities block.
Camping is also available.
The current plan for activities is:
Friday - arrive from 2.00pm - explore around Burying Ground Point and Martyn's Point.
Saturday - am - Mystery Creek Cave walk
- return to camp for lunch
- pm - Roaring Beach and Burnett Conservation Area
- 7:00pm Presentation/workshop from Keith Davis - Nature Journalling
Sunday - South Cape Bay track
Monday - bump out by 10.00am
- Duckhole Creek walk
The Southport Camp has bunk accommodation: three (3) cabins sleeping 10 people each, and one (1) cabin with two (2) separate rooms with ensuites sleeping 4 people each. There are also some unpowered campervan/caravan and tent sites available.
When booking, ensure that you book a place for each person in your party. Booking is for the full 3 nights.
A Common Building contains Kitchen, Dining, Lounge, Toilets and Showers

Advance bookings are essential, including booking for camping.
Participants will need to bring their own personal effects and food as well as bedding, toiletries and towels, a tea towel and toilet paper.
Please also 'book' if you plan to attend the excursion but want to stay in accomodation elsewhere.
All participants will be required to assist with cleaning and tidying at the end of the camp.
