Gum San Guided Bus Tour

 Join us for a guided tour of Gum San Chinese Heritage Centre you will hear the story of Ararat’s birth, the only city in Australia founded by the Chinese. Your guide will bring to life the 19th century story of the struggle of the immigrant Chinese miners and their difficulties on the Victorian Goldfields and shows the influence of Chinese culture on the economic, cultural and social development of Australia.

Gum San adheres to many of the Chinese customs and superstitions, inherently designed into the building. It offers a glimpse into Australian history, and its intersection with Chinese culture.

Itinerary: 

Those using the free VLine train service can catch the following train 
7:53am depart Melbourne Southern Cross Station 
10:22am arrive Ararat Railway Station 
 
10:30am Board the bus at the Ararat Railway Station 

11am – 12.30pm Guided tour of Gum San Chinese Heritage Centre 

12.45pm - Drop off at Ararat Town Hall 

Free time to have lunch (not included), browse the town, Alexandra Gardens or do some shopping 

2pm Pick up at Ararat Town Hall 

2.10pm Drop off at Ararat Railway Station
