'Herding Snails' Advanced PDA Workshop for professionals
About
Do you work with or support a child or young person who seems to resist everyday tasks—no matter how small—and becomes overwhelmed by even the gentlest of requests? Are you constantly grasping for ways to respond to and support the child, young person or their cares and parents.
You are not alone—and there is a way forward.
Join us for 'Herding Snails' an advanced PDA Workshop, a practical and research and evidence based workshop designed for therapists, educators, support workers working with or supporting a child or young person who has extreme demand avoidance, often associated with Autism (especially PDA profiles), ADHD, ODD, anxiety, trauma, rare chromosome disorders, Down Syndrome, and mental health conditions.
Herding Snails is an advanced, practical two-day workshop.
If PDA 101 explains what it is,
this workshop focuses on how to actually do it.
This is not theory.
This is real-life application.
Using the metaphor of 'Herding Snails' we will delve into
- what PDA support actually looks like in real life
- how to reduce demand without removing support
- how to read behaviour as protection
- how to work proactively rather than reactively
- how to identify early signs of escalation
- how to build environments, routines, communication styles, and supports that create movement
- how to respond across home, school, therapy, and community settings:
IMPORTANT – TWO-DAY WORKSHOP
