Lloyd Rees and the Architects by Ross Wilson

Lloyd Rees, the great Australian painter of landscapes, light and water, was first married in the church that is now the Mosman Art Gallery Grand Hall.
He loved judging the Mosman Art Prize not only because he wanted to encourage local artists, but because the building held a kind of aura for him, bringing together memories, traditions, and feelings.
This talk will be presented by Ross Wilson, author of Lloyd Rees and the Architects and will take place in this historic and special space for Lloyd. It will look at Lloyd’s extraordinary feeling for architecture that began as a child when he designed imaginary cities, through the forty years when he taught freehand drawing and art history to successive generations of architects at Sydney University. This celebration of Lloyd, the artist and lover of architecture, will include a Q and A session bringing together some of Lloyd’s former pupils.
