Flinders Community Art Show - Live Lecture - The Frick NY
About
This is not a virtual tour but an in-depth illustrated lecture. The Frick Collection, which re-opened earlier this year after extensive renovation has become the hottest ticket in New York! Our talk will focus on the story of this institution, which grew out of the art collection of USA industrialist Henry Clay Frick & the Gilded Age Beaux-Arts style mansion built in 1914 to display it. In addition to discussing the recent expansion, we will look at some of its treasured works, spanning European art from the 14th–19th centuries & including masterpieces by Bellini, Titian, Vermeer, Holbein, Fragonard, Gainsborough, Turner, Goya & Whistler. Larissa Bailiff is an art historian, educator & writer with an extensive background in museums & the arts. A museum educator & program facilitator with 20 yrs experience at New York’s MoMA, The Morgan Library & Museum & the Brooklyn Museum. She has also lectured widely at numerous libraries, galleries, museums & other cultural institutions.Date
