The Speakers
All speakers are inspirational West Australians looking to show the community how to do things a little differently.
- Jane Hammond – Filmmaker and Environmentalist
Jane is an independent documentary filmmaker and lifelong environmental activist. She’s the creator of the critically acclaimed film Black Cockatoo Crisis and has led impactful campaigns such as Cry of the Forests, which was instrumental in ending native forest logging in WA by 2024. Jane uses storytelling to inspire change around climate justice and environmental preservation.
- Daniel Smith – Chief of Staff to Roger Cook and Founder of ReGen Strategic
With over 25 years of experience in government relations and strategic communications, Daniel has advised top leaders in both industry and government. He’s currently serving as WA Premier Roger Cook’s Chief of Staff and founded ReGen Strategic, where he drives sustainability and ESG initiatives. His work focuses on creating collaborative solutions for sustainable business practices.
- Olivia Chapman – CEO of WASEC
Olivia is a leader in social innovation, having led impactful programs like large-scale future-of-work initiatives in collaboration with Google. She returned to Western Australia after a successful career at Nesta, the UK’s innovation agency, and now leads WASEC, a network focused on supporting entrepreneurs and initiatives that prioritise both people and the planet.
- Prof Sharath Sriram – Chief Scientist of WA
Prof Sriram is a renowned expert in nanoelectronics and medical technologies. As the Chief Scientist of WA, he advises the state government on advancing technology and innovation. His work has led to the development of breakthrough technologies in healthcare, including the prototyping of medical devices. He is also an advocate for diversity and inclusion in the scientific community.
- James Baird – Director and ethical investment specialist
James Baird is an ethical investment specialist and Director at JustInvest Financial Planning, with 25 years experience in the industry. James helps clients align their investments with their values, while achieving financial goals. In this presentation, he will share specific insights on how investing ethically can create positive impact, with real world measurement mapped to the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Attendees will also learn practical ways to apply ethical investment criteria to their own superannuation and investment portfolios.
- Janine Wood – CEO, Co-Founder and Chair
Janine co-founded No Limits Perth in 2015 to support vulnerable individuals in crisis across Perth’s northern suburbs. Under her leadership, the organisation has grown into a volunteer-powered force with over 150 members and has launched pioneering outreach hubs in Joondalup and Wanneroo. Her impactful work has earned her numerous accolades, including national and international awards for social impact and community leadership. Beyond her charity work, Janine also contributes to education and governance through roles at Edith Cowan University and Ashdale Secondary College.
