Join Pathways Melbourne at JIFF for a screening of PINK LADY — a woman’s eye view on the taboo subject of gay male relationships in the Hasidic community.
Pink Lady is an Israeli film about a young, ultra-Orthodox Jewish mother, Bati, whose life is upended when she discovers her husband, Lazer, has a secret gay affair and is being blackmailed over compromising photos. While Bati tries to save her marriage and her family from scandal, she embarks on a journey of self-discovery, uncovering her own needs and desires outside the confines of her community. The film, based on screenwriter Mindi Ehrlich's personal experiences in an Orthodox community, focuses on Bati's perspective, exploring themes of female emancipation, sexuality, and the challenges of living authentically in a deeply traditional society. PG 15+
