Cardiothoracic ICU (CTICU) Introductory Course
Course at a Glance
The Cardiothoracic Intensive Care Unit (CTICU) Introductory Course is designed to equip Intensive Care Unit (ICU) registrars and nursing staff with the foundations of knowledge and skills in the initial management of the elective post-operative cardiothoracic surgical patient.
The program incorporates interactive discussions, workshops and simulation to explore the practical sklls required for the care of the elective cardiothoracic surgical patient in the initial postoperative period.
CTICU Introductory Course also enables participants to explore and practice teamwork skills and behaviours vital for effective team performance such as leadership, followership, effective communication and shared situational awareness in cardiothoracic patient deterioration.
Course Fees
A $50 deposit is required to secure your place. This helps minimise nonattendance and ensures fair access to courses. Your deposit (minus processing fees) will be refunded after attending the booked session.
Who can attend?
The course is designed for the following groups:
ICU Registrars: This is a must attend program for any critical care trainee (Anaesthetics,ICU, General Medicine and Emergency Medicine)about to commence their rotation
Critical Care Nurses: : ICU nurses who are caring for the postoperative cardiothoracic patient
Prerequisites: Participants need to be ALS competent and have completed the course pre-reading material
