Yuki Saito
A guitarist whose quiet brilliance speaks in every phrase.
Yuki Saito is widely recognised as one of Japan’s most compelling young guitarists — an artist of clarity, refinement, and quiet intensity. Born in Tokyo and introduced to the guitar at the age of five, he developed under many of Japan’s foremost teachers before continuing his studies in Weimar with Prof. Ricardo Gallén. His rise has been marked by major international prizes across Europe and his selection as a EuroStrings Young Star.
In 2019, Saito won the Melbourne Guitar Festival Concert Artist Competition, earning a multi-city tour that was postponed for several years due to COVID. This performance is part of that long-awaited winner’s tour.
In this recital, Saito brings together music from different periods and traditions, moving from early guitar and lute styles to the rhythmic and modern language of 20th-century Latin America and today’s Japanese composers. It’s a program that highlights how wide the guitar’s world can be, while still feeling unified and thoughtfully shaped.
