You’re invited to join Ensemble Systolica, together with guest bass-baritone & recorder player Nicholas Dinopoulos, for an afternoon of German baroque chamber music on Saturday 18th October from 3pm.Works ranging from J.S. Bach and Telemann to other lesser-known composers of 17th & 18th centuries explore the lyrical possibilities of the flauto dolce and contrast with the intensity and virtuosity of vocal writing of the Northern European school. Either way, Nick’s lungs will get a good workout! The program will also feature some extremely rare instruments by legendary Australian recorder maker, the late Frederick G. Morgan alongside an astonishing collection of early keyboard instruments and beautiful baroque strings.
Guided by core Systolica members Stephanie Eldridge (violin), Reidun Turner (viola da gamba) and Khoi Bui (harpsichord), the afternoon will explore a variety of passions and moods, from the plaintive to the joyous.
