About
On Saturday 8 November , we are going 'On retreat with Martha, Mary, and Lazarus'. This free retreat will be a contemplative experience that opens anew some key passages of Scripture relating to Jesus' relationship with the family at Bethany. Discover Bethany, and your relationship with Jesus Christ, anew on this retreat, with reflective talks and plenty of time for personal prayer. The retreat will introduce you to The Bethany Way, an immersive formation experience for all who wish to grow in Christ.
WHAT IS THE BETHANY WAY?
The Bethany Way is an exciting new formation offering in the Archdiocese of Melbourne - it deepens what it means to live at the feet of Christ the Teacher, in communion, and for mission. Whether you are a parent, teacher, parishioner or newly baptised, participants can expect an experience that will not only deepen their formation but equips them to discover their place in the Church's mission. The retreat will break open what this offering is all about.
WHY BETHANY?
Bethany is a location of rich significance in the New Testament. As the place where Jesus met with his friends Martha, Mary, and Lazarus in their home (Luke 10:38-42; Jn 12:1-8), it evokes deep intimacy and friendship with Christ, and a willingness to learn at his feet. As the place of Lazarus’ raising (Jn 11:1-44) and Christ’s ascension (Lk 24:50), Bethany also speaks of how grace and mission are given to us within our present context, no matter how humble. It is there Christ wants to shape us for a life lived in him and for others. The Bethany Way looks to form people in the spirit of Bethany: at the feet of Christ the Teacher, in communion, and for mission.
