William Eicholtz Artist Talk

Our 2025 artist-in-residence, professional sculptor William Eicholtz, will present an artist talk and unveil a new sculpture inspired by his long-held connection with the Athenaeum.William has a long career of public works within central urban areas, including Lady of Justice above the County Court of Victoria, and the much-loved Courage sculpture in Fitzroy. Most recently William collaborated with Urban Initiative landscape architects to create Close Knit, a new urban park in Collingwood.
In the early 1980s he worked at the Melbourne Theatre Company as a prop maker and sculptor, when the MTC had its home at the Athenaeum Theatre. William worked on an iconic production of A Midsummer Night’s Dream.
