Mt Franklin Heritage Walk

We will explore the heritage listed Mt Franklin ski field and summit with Canberra Alpine Club members who will tell stories of the early days of club skiing and social activities 70 years ago. The Mt Franklin Visitors Shelter commemorates the historic Franklin Chalet built in the 1930s and destroyed in the 2003 fires. Starting at 10am, 23 November, to allow you to drive the 66km from CBD to the shelter on Mt Franklin Road in the Brindabellas. The last 25kms is on dirt road which a 2WD can manage. The walk is 3.6km with an ascent of 130m and rated 2 star. There are toilets there, but no mobile coverage.Date
