2026 Re-Thinking the Role of TAs in Inclusive Schools

hero

Teaching assistants can play a powerful role in supporting inclusive education—but only when they are well-prepared, purposefully included, and strategically deployed.

In this webinar, we will explore the latest international research and share practical, evidence-based recommendations for ensuring teaching assistants contribute meaningfully to student outcomes—both socially and academically. Drawing on real examples from schools across Australia and New Zealand, this session will help attendees reflect on their current approach and make positive, impactful changes.

We are pleased to provide two session options which tailor the content for specific audiences.

Choose the session that’s right for you:

Option 1: For Teaching Assistants
This session is designed specifically for teaching assistants and other support staff. The content will be presented in a way that speaks directly to those in the role, with practical examples and strategies that can be put into action immediately.

Option 2: General Session For Teachers, School Leaders, and Parents
This session is intended for those who work with or support teaching assistants—teachers, school leaders, and parents. The content will be presented more generally, with recommendations regarding best utilisation of teaching assistants in inclusive schools.

Session type FAQs

Are the two webinars the same?
Yes, the core content is the same. Each session is based on the same research and recommendations, but examples and language will be tailored to the intended audience.

REGISTRATION

Two ticket types are available for each session:

🧍 'Individual Access' ticket

  • Best for: Solo attendees who will be watching on their own device

  • Access details:

    • One login per person

    • Access is exclusive to the registered individual

    • Sharing logins or broadcasting to a group is not permitted

🧑‍🤝‍🧑 'Group Viewing' ticket

  • Best for: Schools or organisations hosting a group to watch together (e.g. during PD days or staff meetings)

  • Access details:

    • One login is provided to the group host

    • The session can be broadcast to a group in a shared space (e.g. staffroom or hall)

    • Ideal for collective learning with a single point of access

    • Group participants must be from the same school or organisation

Key Reminder:

  • If each person needs their own login (e.g. for individual devices), select Individual Access tickets in the required quantity.

  • If the plan is to watch together as a group, only one Group Viewing ticket is needed per group.

Ticket type FAQs

If I purchase a group ticket, does everyone have to watch it at the same time?
Yes. The group ticket provides permission for the registered group host to broadcast the session to a group who are all viewing together. (Eg, at a staff meeting or PD day the group host would log in and play the session via a projector.)

I have staff who can't be there on the day the group views. How do they watch?
Any individuals who are accessing separately from the group will need an individual ticket.

How does it work if I have multiple groups?
In most instances this will require one group ticket per group. Please reach out to admin@illumelearning.com.au with further details before registering so we can provide the best advice.

How many times can the session be played?
Playing the session more than once may trigger the system to block your access. You are welcome to break your viewing into parts (eg. half one day, the other half another time). If you require access to the session in its entirety more than once please reach out to admin@illumelearning.com.au with further details before registering so we can provide the best advice.

Registration includes:

  • 1 hour of professional development - on-demand access any time from 19 January - 19 March 2026
  • Presentation slides
  • Certificate of attendance

Registration fees:

Teaching Assistants session - individual access - $29
