Sunday 23 November 2025 Lyonville Springs 8-10pm(note John will remain until midnight so you are welcome to join him till that hour!)
Join noted local Field Naturalist, John Walter to observe the local insect life after dark. John will set up a sheet and special lights at Lyonville Springs adjacent to the carpark area. The lights will be turned on at sunset at 8.20 pm but it will most likely be 9pm before the insects arrive in larger numbers. Park your car at the Lyonville Springs carpark and you will see the survey site from there. While most visitors will be moths, it is common to see Lacewings, Crickets, Katydids, Beetles, Mantids, Leaf and Tree Hoppers, small Wasps, Flies plus several other insect groups.
This event is not catered so bring your own snacks and water. There are toilets at the carpark. There will be no moon so bring your torch. Children are very welcome with a parent or guardian.
The event will not run if it is raining.
