Black Swans of Trespass

The Black Swans of Trespass are a contemporary banjo-oriented trio from Hobart. Led by avant-garde banjoist CC Thornley, they draw on all styles and disciplines of banjo from around the world to create a unique, new language and paradigm for banjo.. CC Thornley received a scholarship to study banjo at the Hobart Conservatory. Already well versed in both Trad Jazz Dixie styles, Scruggs Bluegrass finger styles, and contemporary jazz banjo, he spent these years further developing his unique approach to the instrument across multiple genres. Previously he had spent 10 years in the Celtic Rock band Zeptepi, where he developed an electric rock style. He has since studied Jamaican banjo, and became an advocate for Traditional Tasmanian folk music, arranging many songs in this canon for 3 finger arpa style banjo. CC is the only dedicated electric banjo player in Australia. His uncommon freedom on the fret-board fuses all styles of banjo seamlessly.
