Noosa Hinterland Rocks for Uriah!
About
NOOSA HINTERLAND and the MARY VALLEY COMMUNITIES WILL COME TOGETHER TO 'ROCK FOR URIAH'. A large community gathering is planned at the Cooran Hall as a fundraiser for Uriah, a local 18 year old lad, who is in ICU in Royal Brisbane Hospital after an horrific car crash in Mc Kinnan Drive, Cooroibah on the 12th October. He was airlifted by helicopter from the scene to the Royal Brisbane Hospital. Sadly, he sustained serious head injuries and has lost one eye. Surgeons have been working long hours to save his remaining eye with a 12 hour operation yesterday. A public fundraiser is also currently open for donations on 'Go Fund Me' hosted by his sister Clare Quinn, who is a well known musician in the duo 'Those Folk'. Come along for a wonderful afternoon of community support on Sunday November 2nd, 3pm. 3 local bands will be providing fabulous music on the day. The local choir from the Cooran Hall will also sing a few of their amazing 4 part harmony tunes. There will be raffles on the day including a large grocery hamper for donated foodstuffs of any sort. Any donations of objects or services or vouchers would be greatly appreciated. If you would like to donate anything - large or small please contact Cherry on 0410573629. Thank you in advance. The wonderful line up of talented local musicians include -Leafy Greens - is a 5 piece band of friends, emphasizing vocal harmonies and instrumental diversity. They perform covers from the 60's - 90's, although older classics like Blue Moon sometimes get a run, whilst more ambitious numbers like Mr Blue Sky and Shine on You Crazy Diamond are thrown in. Many numbers have a cappella sections to showcase the vocal harmonies and there is a smattering of 21st century hits. Leafy Greens are having fun experimenting with originals as well. Band members have all had 3-4 decades of involvement in musical performance and are Streve Dennis (electric and acoustic guitar, mandolin, harmonica, vocals), Kev Irle (acoustic guitar, bass guitar, vocals), Amber Scott (vocals, cello, bass guitar), Karen Hudson (vocals and percussion) and Gen Douw (vocals and percussion). Leafy Greens are sure to get you moving.
Buckleys Chance - is a 6 piece band that specializes in acoustic Celtic-style music. Buckley's Chance is a band that plays traditional Celtic music and popular covers. They describe themselves as an acoustic style band with a Celtic feel, and they play music with a flute, guitar, and other instruments.
Starkers - is a fresh and dynamic collaboration led by James Simon (vocals, guitar) and Clare Talei (percussion, flute). Blending original tunes and creative covers across genres like jazz, afrobeat, and funk, their sound is both familiar and uniquely their own. With the recent addition of Jack Lloyd on drums and Mitch Francis on bass, the group has evolved into a full-bodied musical experience that resonates with audiences from all walks. They're so new, they haven't settled on a name yet — but for now, you can call them Starkers.
