SCREEN PRESENCE: In Conversation with Trailblazing Cinematographer Matthew Chuang ACS
Join Screen Presence for a special in-conversation event with internationally acclaimed cinematographer Matthew Chuang ACS, whose distinctive visual style has been celebrated at major festivals around the world.
Matthew Chuang's credits include:
• Blue Bayou — Official Selection, Cannes Film Festival 2021, directed by Justin Chon
• You Won’t Be Alone — Official Selection, Sundance Film Festival 2022, directed by Goran Stolevski
• Of An Age — Melbourne International Film Festival 2023, also with Goran Stolevski
• Jimpa — Official Selection, Sundance Film Festival 2025, directed by Sophie Hyde
• Chief of War — the Apple TV+ epic series created by and starring Jason Momoa, with directors Justin Chon, Brian Mendoza and Momoa
Matthew’s work is known for its emotional precision, bold visual language and immersive naturalism. Joined by camera operator Jeon Patton, Matthew will unpack his creative process — exploring visual storytelling, camera language, collaboration on set, and the practical realities of bringing ambitious screen worlds to life, from intimate dramas to large-scale international series.
A must-attend evening for emerging and established filmmakers, cinematographers, producers, and anyone passionate about craft and collaboration in contemporary cinema.
Please note: due to unforeseen commitments, producer Mat Govoni is no longer able to attend. We’re delighted to welcome Jeon Patton to the conversation in his place.
