This session provides a foundational understanding of electric profiling beds from an equipment-focused perspective. Participants will learn about key components and mechanical functions. The session also covers essential considerations such as bed sizing, client–bed fit, and safe working load requirements. This knowledge equips therapists with the key understanding necessary to select, operate, and evaluate electric profiling beds confidently in clinical and home-care environments.

Describe core mechanical functions, including height adjustment, backrest elevation, knee break, and tilt.
Select appropriate bed sizing based on client dimensions, functional needs, and safety considerations.
Apply safe working load (SWL) requirements to ensure client and carer safety
Differentiate between common bed types
