About

The Armidale Youth Orchestras (AYO’s) is a not-for-profit volunteer run organisation, closely affiliated with the New England Conservatorium of Music (NECOM). It was established in 1968 to foster the orchestral talent of young musicians in Armidale. Over the past 49 years, many of our alumni have gone on to professional careers in music.

The AYOs offer music students from 8-21 years a weekly ensemble program during term and provide opportunities to share the love of music making to our community. It comprises of three ensembles: The Armidale Youth Orchestra (AYO), the Armidale Youth Strings (AYS) and the Armidale Youth Winds Ensemble (AYWE).
