Peninsula Music Society presents Ensemble Liaison
David Griffiths - clarinet
Timothy Young - piano
PROGRAM
PMS is thrilled to have our old friends from Ensemble Liaison, David Griffiths (clarinet) and Timothy Young (piano), perform for us. From the haunting resonance of Henry Cowell to the infectious swing of ragtime and blues, this is a concert of striking contrasts, colour and virtuosity. Atmospheric, virtuosic and full of rhythmic energy, this is a musical journey from moonlight and mythology to ragtime, jazz and the blues.
Review
'…it takes extraordinary musical understanding, technique, curiosity and courage to be able to function equally convincingly in both the jazz and classical worlds. Just when you think you've seen everything, Griffiths and Young take you to the next level – and do it with a sense of surreptitious fun and subversive mischief.'
