NATURE JOURNALING WITH SARAH FRAZER & RYAN GARRATT
About
Come and explore Buda’s three-acre Heritage Garden in this immersive Nature Journaling workshop led by Buda’s Curators. Slow down, observe closely, and record what you discover through drawing, writing, or even poetry. Anyone can nature journal — simple tools, open curiosity, and you’re ready to start.
Begin the day with Ryan Garratt, Buda’s Garden Curator, who will share the history and significance of nature journaling in Victorian times. This session will draw on Buda’s collection of beautiful nature journals and botanical interpretations.
Next, Sarah Frazer, Buda’s House Curator and visual artist, will introduce the key elements of nature journaling. She will explain what you might include, why it differs from everyday journaling, and provide practical examples.
After a lunch break, the group will head into the garden for hands-on journaling. This session will include observational drawing and sensory meditation with Sarah, while Ryan will be on hand to highlight what you might work with in the garden during the current season. There will also be time for questions, practice, and guidance throughout.
This special workshop includes a beautifully handmade journal for you to use and keep. The first section offers an instructional and inspirational guide to support your journaling journey, followed by blank pages ready for your own spontaneous creations.
Pencils and pens will be available but feel free to bring your own art materials.
Tea and coffee will be provided. Please BYO your own lunch to have in the garden.
