From Soil Health to “Where Do I Start?”Join us for a full-day, hands-on workshop with Kevin Elmy, designed for farmers who want to understand their soils better and take confident first steps toward regenerative farming.
This workshop blends soil health fundamentals with practical, real-world guidance on how to start and what to do next. It’s ideal for growers who are curious about regenerative systems but want clear, achievable pathways forward.
Topics will include:
- The key characteristics of healthy and unhealthy soils
- The biological and physical processes that drive fertile, functional soils
- How plants and microbes work together to build soil health
- Practical ways to use plant diversity and management to strengthen soil systems
Workshop format:
We’ll begin the workshop with a morning paddock session, looking at soil, followed by a presentation from Kevin Elmy, then moving indoors for a relaxed, “kitchen-table” style converstaions, where Kevin will coach participants through practical strategies to help bridge the gap between where they are now with their current farming practices and where they want to be and the challenges they are facing - while peers listen, learn and contribute.
Morning tea, lunch and afternoon tea provided.

Kevin Elmy is a Canadian agronomist, cover cropping specialist and author based in eastern Saskatchewan. After buying highly degraded "dirt" in 1999, Kevin spent over two decades rebuilding soil function using cover crops, diverse rotations and well-managed livestock. He has consulted widely across Western Canada and Australia, including work with Haggerty's in WA and workshops at Dunedoo (NSW). Kevin's work focuses on practical, profitable regenerative systems that reduce reliance on synthetic inputs while improving resilience, productivity and animal performance.
