Looking for a fun crafty thing to do in Melbourne this summer? Join this punch needle tufting workshop in the gallery with Summer Artist Incubator artist Arabella Strachan.Your teacher Arabella will guide you through the basics of punch needling using both yarns and fabric to create small artworks on embroidery hoops. Feel encouraged to tap into your creative instincts, guided by Arabella’s distinctive textile-based artistic practices.
This three hour workshop will cover everything from the basics of the punch needle tool to selecting the appropriate fabric and yarn and exploring different stitches and techniques.
You will:
-Learn how to use the punch needles to create textured designs
-Discover the basics of different stitches and selecting the right needle and yarn to create your artwork
-Tap into your creative instincts through colour and texture exploration to create a unique piece.
-By the end of the class, you can take home your completed artwork on an embroidery hoop frame.
What to bring
Some inspiration images or objects to spark the imagination for your design!
Tea and coffee provided.
No experience necessary, this workshop is for ages 12+.
