HEN Online: the Art of Portraiture with the NGV (all ages)
About
Join us for our first installment of HEN's 2026 free quarterly online series for kids, hosted by the National Gallery of Victoria:
What is a portrait? What can a portrait tell us about a person, time or place? In this online excursion, join an NGV educator to explore these questions and more as children view and respond to portraits from different time periods and cultural contexts. Kids will consider how portraits capture feelings, emotions and ideas, and why so many artists are inspired to make portraits.
Two one-hour sessions will run, to tailor the event to different levels. Both sessions are open to all ages, and families are welcome to attend either or both:
- 11.30am: aimed at kids aged 8y-12y (Grade 3 - 6)
- 1pm: aimed at kids aged 12y - 16y (Year 7 - 10)
This event is free to all HEN members, and new members are very welcome!
Adults must be in the room with children to supervise them online throughout this event.
Sorry, no recording of this event will be available, due to NGV's copyright responsibilities.
